Open Source Maergzjirah

The Maergzjiran movement is a ostensibly Left Hand Path movement that takes a considerable amount of its inspiration from the Catholic Church. There is a large focus on unquestioning faith, threats of removal from the "current" (the spiritual connections behind the movement), and a reliance on outright lies in terms of historicity and innovation. A large amount of its material is taken from Dungeons and Dragons. The books published by Somnus Dreadwood are dangerous, but not in the sense that they will make you an uber-wizard. They are often incomplete, do not teach core magical skills, misuse occult terminology, and at later stages of both Charnel Whispers and Eye of the Void will kill you if you follow them exactly.

Many people are fascinated by Maergzjirah because it has an air of dark mystery and forbidden power. Most of this is a fabrication.

The purpose of this site is to compose and collect information about the movement, its purported magical power, its core work (apotheosis), and explore ways to engage with the system that do not involve submission to high control groups or doctrinal struggles. We examine the Maergzjiran Cabal, the Infernal Academia, and the Maergzjiran subreddit in this adventure.

This site is written with the intention of informing people and helping them make educated decisions about involvement within this movement.

Articles

The Allegory of Sybastien Drujziya . Summary: Sybastien Drujziya was not a real person, despite the cult's insistence he is. His story could have been a valuable allegory if worked by people who cared.

A lot of my posts on the Maergzjirah subreddit were removed and I was permabanned following uploading a link the The Allegory of Sybastien Drujziya. These articles might be useful for people interested in the Maergzjiran pantheon, or who have a critical eye towards doctrine.

Removed Reddit Post: The Cthulhu Mythos. Summary: Somnus Dreadwood use to promote the Mythos as part of his work. How did other members feel about this?

Removed Reddit Post: The Tower of Intellect. Summary: A 2 page introduction to an attempt at open-sourcing a Maergzjirah tower. Liked by some, opposed by Muldegrin (likey to promote his own doctrines).

Removed Reddit Post: Reused, Repurposed, and Copy/Pasted Seals in Somnus's Work. Summary: Signs of incredible laziness on the part of Somnus in books he sold. Pointed out to me by a private message from a concerned Maergzjiran.

Removed Reddit Post: Was the Cabal a Cult? New Religious Movements and High Control Groups. Summary: A discussion of what separates a New Religious Movement from a High Control Group. Indications that the original Cabal was a High Control Group. Subtle suggestions that the current iterations are also.

Removed Reddit Post: The Error of Apostasy. Summary: Somnus used the concept of "apostasy" to threaten members of the Cabal into compliance. I point out what apostasy actually means, and that no other person can take away your spiritual power. This is contested by cult leaders who want to take away people's power.

Archived Reddit Post: Old Documents From Tradition? Summary: A post begun by another member, I contributed largely to the discussion on the actual origins of Maergzjiran thought. This attracted the ire of the splinter cult leader.
